Bottom Line
Lake levels at Bridgeport and Eagle Mountain are expected to improve this week as runoff from the weekend rainfall is on its way to the lakes! TRWD’s rain gage at Truce recorded 6.31 inches in a 12-hour period, marking a nearly 50-year rainfall event. In addition, Lake Amon Carter in Bowie is six feet over its overflow spillway, providing a sustained flow into Eagle Mountain into next week or more.
Projections
- Bridgeport: Lake levels have already increased about 1.7 feet and are expected to continue rising. There will be plenty of water flowing the lake in the coming days. And while it is too early to tell how high Bridgeport will climb, elevation 831 is not out of the question.
- Eagle Mountain: Expected to rise by six inches or more as water from the Bowie area flows down Big Sandy Creek
- Richland-Chambers and Cedar Creek: Both are near conservation level with minimal inflow from the weekend rainfall.
*Projections are subject to change and are based on past precipitation.
