Reservoir Monitoring Update

By June 11, 2025

Bottom Line

Heavy Rainfall Threat Continues Through the Weekend – Stay Weather Aware.

With saturated soils from recent rainfall events, TRWD lakes are actively responding to additional precipitation. Over the past day, TRWD East Texas lakes (Richland-Chambers and Cedar Creek) received most of the rain, with the Richland-Chambers watershed getting 4+ inches of rain in areas south of the watershed (Graphic 1). These lakes are actively reacting to inflows from the past rain events.

All four TRWD lakes—Bridgeport, Eagle Mountain, Cedar Creek, and Richland-Chambers—are currently spilling. Our teams are closely monitoring inflows and managing releases to balance water supply needs and flood mitigation.

Projections

  • Bridgeport: A low-level release continues, and no significant rise in lake level is expected at this time.
  • Eagle Mountain: Low-level discharges are ongoing. Lake levels are expected to remain steady with no additional rainfall.
  • Cedar Creek: The lake is slowly increasing due to additional rain. Discharges will be adjusted as needed in response of observed rainfall.
  • Richland-Chambers: Water levels are rising as upstream inflows from Richland and Chambers Creeks reach the lake. Discharges were increased at 12 pm and will continue to be adjusted accordingly to manage the increase.

*Projections are subject to change and are based on past precipitation.

Looking Forward

Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected mainly over the south and east of the metroplex into the weekend. Organized thunderstorms complexes are expected over the western part of the TRWD system, but the heavier threat remains on the east. Pockets of moderate river flooding are expected, with low end chances of an isolated major flood, depending on a lot of variables. See Graphic 2 for guidance from the River Forecast Center.

Next Update:  The next update will be tomorrow. TRWD staff will continue to monitor conditions 24/7 and are available to answer the flood line if there are any questions or concerns.
