Reservoir Monitoring Update

By June 9, 2025

Bottom Line

Storms Continue This Week – Stay Weather Aware.  The recent wave of thunderstorms has saturated soils across North Central Texas, and TRWD lakes are actively responding. Over the past 24 hours, rainfall totals between 1 and 3 inches have been recorded in key watersheds, including Cedar Creek and Richland-Chambers (Graphic 1).  All four TRWD lakes—Bridgeport, Eagle Mountain, Cedar Creek, and Richland-Chambers—are currently spilling. Our teams are closely monitoring inflows and managing releases to balance water supply and flood mitigation.

Projections

  • Bridgeport: A low-level release continues, and no significant rise in lake level is expected at this time.
  • Eagle Mountain: Discharges are ongoing but were reduced earlier today. Lake levels are expected to remain steady. As Eagle Mountain releases decrease, Lake Worth levels will also gradually decline.
  • Cedar Creek: The lake has likely reached its peak for this event and is expected to begin receding tomorrow.
  • Richland-Chambers: Water levels are projected to rise slowly as upstream inflows from Chambers Creek make their way into the lake. Discharges will be adjusted accordingly to manage the increase.

*Projections are subject to change and are based on past precipitation.

Looking Forward

More storms are expected Tuesday through Thursday, with the potential for repeated rainfall over already saturated areas. This could lead to renewed river flooding.  See Graphic 2 for guidance from the River Forecast Center.

Next Update:  The next update will be tomorrow. TRWD staff will continue to monitor conditions 24/7 and are available to answer the flood line if there are any questions or concerns.
