Reservoir Monitoring Update

By May 27, 2025

Bottom Line

Spillway operations are ongoing at all four TRWD lakes. While additional rainfall cannot be ruled out, the forecasted depths are relatively low and should not create new peak levels at the TRWD lakes.

Projections

  • Bridgeport: The pool has crested and is receding.
  • Eagle Mountain: The spillway gates were opened further this afternoon in anticipation of water currently at the upstream Boyd gage. The Boyd gage is near its peak at just over 5,000 cfs. The pool level is expected to fall overnight and begin rising again by tomorrow evening as the Boyd water arrives. Travel time from Boyd to Eagle Mountain is typically 12 to 24 hours. Lake Worth should rise to approximately elevation 595.3 with this operation.
  • Cedar Creek:The pool has crested, and spillway operations are ongoing to return the lake to conservation levels.
  • Richland-Chambers: Spillway operations continue as the pool level slowly rises. At this time, we do not expect it to rise much above 315.5 ft-msl.

*Projections are subject to change and are based on past precipitation.

Looking Forward

Tonight’s storms are expected to steer clear of Bridgeport and Eagle Mountain. Chances are more favorable in the Cedar Creek and Richland-Chambers watersheds. See NWS guidance in Graphic-1 below.

Next Update:  The next reservoir update will be posted as conditions warrant to provide updates on reservoir conditions. TRWD staff will continue to monitor conditions 24/7 and are available to answer the flood line if there are any questions or concerns.

Graphic 1) NWS Wednesday Night Guidance

Storms will enter the western zones tonight and move east across the region on Wednesday. The best storm chances will be across Central Texas. Some storms will be strong; with hail, gusty winds, and locally heavy rain. A severe storm or two can’t be ruled out.
