Lake Level BlogReservoir Monitoring Update

Reservoir Monitoring Update

By May 6, 2025

Bottom Line

Today’s rain has moved east of the TRWD reservoir watersheds, but not before depositing two to three inches of rainfall in the Cedar Creek watershed and about an inch elsewhere (see Graphic-1). The most significant impact was at Cedar Creek, where staff are actively monitoring inflows and managing water levels through spillway operations.  Please note the 8 pm change in discharge at Cedar Creek shown below.

Projections

  • Bridgeport: Pool levels continue to fall as TRWD staff work on plans to reduce discharges over the next few days. Additionally, staff will inspect the lake tomorrow to decide on re-opening the reservoir.  An official notice will be posted to the TRWD.com home page when the lake has re-opened.
  • Eagle Mountain: Discharges were increased today in response to local rainfall. The latest projections show a peak level of approximately 650.5 ft-msl late tomorrow/early Thursday. Lake Worth should stabilize around 596.4 ft-msl.
  • Cedar Creek: Heavy local rain has caused rising water levels; spillway operations are ongoing. We do not expect the pool level to exceed 322.5 ft-msl.
  • Richland-Chambers:  Spillway operations continue. Today’s rainfall will prolong the recession, but a significant increase in pool level is not expected.

Looking Forward

After low rain chances tomorrow and Friday, conditions are expected to dry out for the weekend and next week (see Graphic-2).

Next Update:  TRWD staff are monitoring conditions 24/7 and are available to answer the flood line if there are any questions or concerns. The next update will be provided tomorrow morning.

Lower rain chances will continue through late this week, turning drier by the weekend. Afternoon highs will peak in the 70s and 80s. The Climate Prediction Center’s 6 to 10 Day Outlook predicts below normal precipitation and near to above normal temperatures from May 12th to May 16th.
