Reservoir Monitoring Update

By May 1, 2025

Bottom Line

Rain moved out of the area over night. See rainfall totals in the past 12 hours in Graphic 1 below. TRWD staff is actively assessing the reservoir inflows and spillway operations to manage the excess runoff in an effort to balance impacts at the lakes and downstream.  Spillway operations are ongoing at Bridgeport, Eagle Mountain, Cedar Creek, and Richland-Chambers. See current conditions below.

Projections

While it is still early and there are many variables in play, the following are the latest projections based on what we know right now.

  • Bridgeport: Inflows continue to increase into the lake as upstream flows have not peaked. We still have confidence the lake level will not rise above elevation 840 ft-msl without additional rainfall.  Elevation 839 ft-msl in the next few days cannot be ruled out at this time.
  • Eagle Mountain: Flood discharges are ongoing to move water in advance of inflows that will be coming from the Bridgeport discharges.  Even with these discharges, the lake is expected to reach 649.1 over the next few days.
  • Cedar Creek: The lake level is above conservation and spillway operations are ongoing. Note change in discharge in current conditions below.
  • Richland-Chambers: The lake level is above conservation and spillway operations are ongoing.

*Projections are subject to change and are based on past precipitation.

Looking Forward

There is a chance for additional rainfall tonight and tomorrow.  Depths are in the 0.2 to 0.6-inch range, however locally heavy rainfall is possible. See Graphic 2 for NWS Guidance. TRWD staff will continue to monitor conditions and adjust flood discharges accordingly. TRWD has staff monitoring conditions 24/7 and available to answer the flood line if there are any questions or concerns. Updates on reservoir conditions will be posted, and subscribers will receive email notifications of new blog posts.
