Trout stocking in River Park

Calling all anglers! We are excited to announce the dates for the 29th year of Rainbow Trout stockings in the Trinity River in Fort Worth. The trout release is one of many ways TRWD promotes recreation along the river, “One of the things we at the water district always like to do is to bring people down to the river,” said Rick Carroll, TRWD Land & Right of Way Manager. “And so what better opportunity than to have a rainbow trout fishery in our own backyard.”

Can’t make this release? Fear not fine fishermen (and women!), the trout that are not caught during the release will survive through the winter in the river. So as long as you have a pole and a valid Texas fishing license with Trout Stamp, you can hit the river and try to round up the ones that got away.

Veteran anglers will notice a slight change in the schedule this year, this updated format will allow three straight months of stocking, when combined with Texas Parks & Wildlife. The schedule is as follows:

January 6, 2016
Texas Parks & Wildlife
2,000 trout

February 4, 2016
TRWD (Trinity Park)
2,200 trout

Stay tuned for another exciting announcement of a big event surrounding the final stocking of the season!
