Trash Bash events netted more than 40,000 lbs. of trash and debris in 2025

By October 28, 2025

2025 marks an incredible year of cleanup events across the TRWD system. Thanks to your hard work, passion, and commitment to protecting our waterways, we removed more than 41,000 lbs. of trash this year!

Here’s how each event made a splash:

  • Trinity River Locations: 9,000 lbs. of litter collected in the Spring and 11,800 lbs. in the Fall — a powerful one-two punch for a cleaner river!
  • Lake Bridgeport: 12,300 lbs. of litter collected. Another record-breaking year!
  • Marine Creek Lake: 2,000 lbs. of litter collected.
  • Eagle Mountain Lake: 2,100 lbs. of litter collected.
  • Cedar Creek Lake: 4,000 lbs. of litter collected.
  • Richland-Chambers Reservoir: Although this year’s event was cancelled due to weather, we’re grateful for the volunteers who signed up and were ready to serve.

Every trash bag you filled helped keep our local waterways cleaner, safer, and more beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

Want to make a bigger impact and keep the Trash Bash going? If so, you can participate in our ongoing Trash Bash Challenge, powered by the new and improved Rubbish app, where we work together to document local litter data to better understand what kind of litter contaminates our waterways, where it is recurring, and how we can best prevent the problem at the source. To date, we’ve amassed litter data from nearly 70,000 litter pieces and counting!

Start contributing today by downloading Rubbish then joining the official “TRWD Trash Bash Challenge” team in the Activity tab! If you have questions or want a cleanup supply starter kit, contact us at trashbash@trwd.com.

Thank you once again to all our 2025 Trash Bash sponsors for supporting our communities and local waterways!
