Duck hunters come from far and wide to experience the excellent hunting opportunities created by the George W. Shannon Wetlands. TRWD’s operation of the 2,000-acre wetland system is closely coordinated with Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists to maximize the wildlife benefits. Hunters travel to Richland Creek WMA from all over the region to experience some of the best duck hunting in the state. Duck hunting is generally permitted on TRWD lakes. However, hunters must remain below the lake’s conservation level, not trespass on private property, and abide by all applicable state and federal hunting regulations.
