Tomorrow, October 22nd, there will be temporary releases from Lake Bridgeport to support swift water Swift Water Rescue training conducted by the Wise County Emergency Management Services (EMS). These exercises are critical for keeping first responders prepared to save lives during flood emergencies.
We recognize that changes in lake levels are a concern for the Lake Bridgeport community. These releases will be short‑term, planned, and carefully managed. The total volume requested for training is less than 2 inches of lake level, or approximately 10 days of the current water supply release of 72 cubic feet per second (cfs). Water released from Lake Bridgeport is not lost, but captured downstream at Eagle Mountain Lake, consistent with how the system is operated. Once training is complete, the volume used for training will be considered in future water supply release operations from Lake Bridgeport. We appreciate the community’s support. There will be another blog post when the training is complete.
