Reservoir Monitoring Update

By May 18, 2021

TRWD continues to monitor reservoir conditions 24 hours a day. Rainfall is expected to continue through most of the week, bringing additional rainfall across TRWD’s watersheds. Rainfall overnight Monday and through the day on Tuesday totaled up to about 1.6″ in the Bridgeport and Eagle Mountain watersheds, and about 0.5″ in the Richland-Chambers and Cedar Creek watersheds. See Graphic-1 for rainfall totals for the 24-hour period ending at 6:00 p.m. this evening.

National Weather Service (NWS) guidance for tonight indicates the potential for additional showers and storms, with the focus being mostly east of Eagle Mountain Lake. See Graphic-2 and Graphic-3 for guidance on this evening’s rain and estimated rainfall totals through Thursday, respectively.

Current reservoir conditions are shown below.  Richland-Chambers and Cedar Creek continue to make flood discharges. Discharges from Eagle Mountain were initiated this afternoon to begin to pass flood waters.  No flood discharges are being made from Bridgeport at this time.  Staff will continue to monitor conditions and make discharges as needed to safely move excess water through the system.  Updates to lake status and flood discharges will be posted here.

Please continue to follow the National Weather Service (NWS)  and the River Forecast Center (RFC) for the latest information regarding weather and river conditions, respectively.

Please be advised that forecasts and projections are subject to change, and TRWD reservoir operations are based on observed rainfall conditions. The next update will come Wednesday morning, unless conditions dictate otherwise.  Please check back.
