By October 21, 2024

TRWD’s Communications and Community Outreach Department has been recognized with a Silver Circle Savvy Award from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA). This esteemed award honors the team’s exceptional work on the marketing and communications campaign for the community engagement phase of TRWD’s 2023 recreation master plan.

The Savvy Awards, presented annually by 3CMA, represent the pinnacle of achievement in government communications. For over three decades, these awards have celebrated outstanding local government communications, public-sector marketing, and resident-government relations initiatives.

This year’s competition was particularly fierce:

  • 1,114 entries were received across all categories
  • 329 unique jurisdictions across the United States and Canada participated

TRWD’s Communications and Community Outreach Department received the Silver Circle Award for its approach to resident participation and engaging the community in TRWD’s recreation master plan. The campaign, which ran from May 2023 to August 2023, focused on the crucial community engagement phase of the project and received close to 1,000 feedback submissions from residents.

A robust strategy was implemented that encompassed a wide range of communication channels and tactics, including:

  • Creative pieces tailored to various audiences
  • Public meetings held across multiple locations for accessibility
  • Press releases to keep media and residents informed
  • Engaging video assets
  • Digital Tactics
  • Digital and print advertising
  • Social media
  • Enewsletter communications
  • And many more outreach methods

“This comprehensive approach ensured we reached and engaged with as many community members as possible throughout the phase,” said Natasha Hill, Director of Communications and Outreach.

The campaign will now be featured in one of the country’s most comprehensive, searchable databases for local government communication solutions. Additionally, the campaign will be showcased in 3CMA’s annual guidebook for government communicators, serving as an inspiration and resource for creative colleagues nationwide.

This recognition motivates us to continue pushing the boundaries of effective community engagement and communication”, said Hill. “I am very proud of my team’s hard work and dedication, and we’re excited to apply these innovative strategies to future projects that benefit the community.”
