2026 TRWD Trash Bash events netted nearly 20,000 lbs. of trash and litter in 2026

By October 12, 2026

Despite the bad weather that caused the cancelation of the 2026 Spring Trash Bash in Fort Worth, TRWD and its thousands of dedicated volunteers removed almost 20,000 lbs. or approximately 10 tons of trash and debris from the Trinity River in Fort Worth and at five-area lakes in 2026 – including Richland-Chambers, Lake Bridgeport, Marine Creek Lake, Eagle Mountain Lake and Cedar Creek Lake.

In addition, the District’s Trash Bash Challenge and Adopt-A-Trail program members reported an extra 2,112 pounds or 1.1 tons of trash collected this fall.

TRWD’s Rubbish app participation – via the Trash Bash Challenge, Adopt-A-Trail, and Adopt-A-Drain – also resulted in 4,600 new litter items documented throughout the fiscal year.

As a result, we have been able to gather important, relevant data from over 33,000 litter items in our lakes and the Trinity River!

Thank you again to our dedicated volunteers and your commitment to keeping our lakes and waterways clean from trash and debris.

If you would like to keep the cleanup fun going, try out the interactive Trash Bash Challenge in your community and follow our collective progress by visiting Trash Bash Challenge – Tarrant Regional Water District.
