Hunting

While hunting is only permitted in select locations on TRWD property, world-class hunting opportunities are still available. Duck hunters come from far and wide to experience the excellent hunting opportunities created by the George W. Shannon Wetlands. TRWD’s operation of the 2,000-acre wetland system is closely coordinated with Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists to maximize the wildlife benefits. Hunters travel to Richland Creek WMA from all over the region to experience some of the best duck hunting in the state.
Hunting is also permitted at Cedar Creek Lake and at Lake Bridgeport, however most of the shoreline is privately owned and no trespassing is allowed. Hunters must abide by all applicable state and federal regulations.
