Industrial Machinery Mechanic I – Ennis/Waxahachie

Position summary:

Industrial Machinery Mechanic I maintains equipment in the raw water pump station including but not limited to pumps, chemical systems, motors, HVAC equipment, valves, hydraulic systems, rigging and conveying systems, etc.  Mechanics will also provide support, such as fabrication, line-locations, pipeline right-of-way maintenance and repairs, to various TRWD projects.  This position works as part of a team to assist with other duties such as vegetation maintenance, structure inspection and repair, and manual labor.

Qualifications required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of horizontal split case pumps and vertical turbine pumps
  • Two (2) years of experience related to the maintenance of one of the following: pumps, motors, chemical equipment, or industrial maintenance
  • Ability to read of drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of basic OSHA rules and regulations
  • Experience with Microsoft office
  • Valid Texas Driver License

Qualifications desired:

  • Trade school, Hazmat training, HVAC, and welding/fabrication skills
  • Experience with heavy equipment
  • Valid Texas CDL Class A or B without restriction E

Functions and responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment and facility including mechanical drive, compressors, hydraulic systems, industrial systems, etc.
  • Maintain maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps and chemical machine using precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment
  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment
  • Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs
  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear
  • Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems
  • Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials as necessary
  • Record repairs and maintenance performed
  • Study blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct installation or operation of machinery
  • Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment
  • Operating heavy equipment such as a backhoe, ag-tractor or track loader
  • Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery
  • Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators
  • Uphold safety standards and clean work environment
  • Interact and coordinate with other TRWD personnel
  • After hours Emergency Response
  • Perform other duties as required
