FORT WORTH, TX  (January 19, 2012) - Attorneys for the Tarrant Regional Water District filed a Writ of Certiorari today asking the United States Supreme Court to review the decision rendered September 7, 2011 by the 10th United States Circuit Court.

Statement by TRWD General Manager Jim Oliver regarding today’s filing:

“As we have noted on numerous occasions in the past, we have a responsibility to our constituencies in North Central Texas to pursue every opportunity to increase our water supply to meet future demands.   The filing today makes certain our legal options remain open but does not change our preference to negotiate an agreement, rather than litigate.  We recognize Oklahoma currently has several complex water issues it must address through the courts which do not directly involve us.   We could not agree more with the premise that Oklahoma must take care of its water needs first. The overwhelming evidence shows Oklahoma has excess water it could sell to fund the more than $81 billion in water infrastructure needs outlined by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board.  Our door remains open to starting a dialogue.”

TRWD and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will team up again this year to host four trout stocking events on the Trinity River in Fort Worth. Below you will find the dates and times:

12/13  Tarrant Regional Water District, Trinity Park   1:00 p.m.         

1/4  Texas Parks and Wildlife, Trinity Park     9:00 a.m.     

1/5  Texas Parks and Wildlife, River Park         9:00 a.m.

1/19 Tarrant Regional Water District, River Park      9:00 a.m.

There will be approximately 2,200 trout released each event.
